Police early Tuesday morning were retrieving video from area businesses that they hoped could help them identify a woman who was struck and killed by a vehicle and the car that hit her.
Police believe the victim, who had not been identified by 8 a.m., was a homeless woman who lived in the area. The driver of the car who hit the woman took off. Police have not yet released the make or model.
The deadly crash happened just before sunrise near the corner of Northwest First Court and 23rd Street. Streets in the area were shut down into the morning rush hour.
The woman had no identification, according to someone familiar with the investigation.
