Each of the five girls, ages 7 to 10, told Coral Springs police the same thing about Leonardo at Twins Gymnastics — that he repeatedly touched them in a bad way around the chest area over their clothing, no matter how often they asked him to stop or told the gym’s owners to make him stop, according to his arrest report.

That’s why Leonardo Suarez Alvarez, 52, of Tamarac, sits in Broward County Main Jail on five counts of lewd and lascivious behavior on a victim under 12 years old.

According to the arrest report, the first of the girls Coral Springs police spoke to on Wednesday, a 10-year-old, said Suarez Alvarez is the brother of Twins Gymnastics’ owners, Maria Elena Suarez and Maria del Carmen Suarez. Suarez Alvarez volunteered there, Coral Springs police said.

Neither a call to Twins Gymnastics from the Miami Herald nor an email were returned.

The 10-year-old didn’t specify which “Ms. Maria” she spoke to about Suarez Alvarez, but told police the following: “When she told Ms. Maria, it was summer vacation and Ms. Maria said she would talk to Leonardo and tell him to stop. (The girl) said that Leonardo didn’t stop. (The girl) said this has happened once or twice per week since summer vacation.”

A 7-year-old told police Suarez Alvarez had been fondling her around her chest area for two years. The most recent time was the previous day while she was doing her homework at the gym, she said.

Coral Springs police want anyone who might know anything about this case or any other potential victims to call 954-346-1343.
