Youth football coach accused of sending graphic sexual texts to boys he coached

The 24-year-old volunteer coach for a youth football team was arrested Friday on charges of sending sexual text messages to two boys he coached — a 12-year-old and a 13-year-old.

The boys told Doral police that Fernando Hernandez III, then the assistant coach for the Doral Broncos Football Team, called them “baby” and offered to perform sexual favors on them. One youth told police Hernandez sent him a picture of a penis and a video of a masturbating man via SnapChat.

“You are the best thing that has ever happened to me,” police said Hernandez texted one boy. “I love you.”

Hernandez is charged with sending pornography and soliciting a child.

In a statement, the city of Doral said Hernandez has been court-ordered to stay away from city parks. The city said he passed a background check when he initially applied to volunteer in 2017.
