Miami Police found the body of an elderly woman floating in the Miami River on Saturday.

About 8:20 a.m., officers arrived at the area of 1800 NW 27th Ave. — between Allapattah and Little Havana — and saw the woman floating facedown in the water, Miami Police spokesman Michael Vega said in an email.

Police will not disclose the woman’s identity until they notify her next of kin, Vega said. Her body was taken to the Miami-Dade County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of death.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and Marine Patrol units assisted in the call, Vega said.
