Miami police have released a description of a gunman whose shooting led to the shutdown of several blocks of Liberty City on Friday night.

On Saturday afternoon, detectives said the suspect is a slim male between 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-9. He was wearing a gray long-sleeved shirt, black pants and black footwear when he approached two men who were working on a car in front of 4656 NW 15th Ct. in Liberty City at about 9 p.m. Friday.

With his shirt covering his face and a black firearm in his hand, police say, the gunman shot one of the men at least twice after demanding a chain the victim was wearing.

In the struggle, another man was roughed up.

The gunman fled, Miami police say. The gunshot victim was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center and is in stable condition.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Miami Police Department’s Robbery Unit at 305-603-6370. You can also remain anonymous and call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477 or www.crimestoppersmiami.com.
