Pawn shops paid real money for fake gold, cops say.

The Hialeah Police Department is looking for a foursome who detectives say sold fake gold to several pawn shops in the city for cash.

Police say two convicted felons — Moise Bruno, 27, and Nadia Morales-Alvarez, 27 — and Rishana Contreras Ramirez, 25, and Joane Gomez, 28, defrauded multiple pawn shops in the city.

The scheme, police say: The group pawned fake gold jewelery to get cash.

“Thus far, all the jewelry has been coated in a small amount of gold, in order for the jewelry to pass the initial gold verification and inspection phase,” police said in a news release. “However, later upon a more thorough inspection of the gold jewelry, it was determined that the jewelry was in fact fraudulent and thereby worthless.”

Police believe the foursome could be in the Orlando area.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Hialeah Police Department at 305-687-2525 or Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
