Man shot in Florida City on the Fourth of July

A man was shot near his waist near 524 NW Seventh Ave., according to the Florida City Police Department. Miami Dade Fire Rescue transported the man to Jackson South Trauma Center in stable condition.

The victim reported that shots were fired at him from a brown Nissan.

He is expected to survive, according to officials.
