Before he became an elementary school music teacher in Miami, Justin James House worked as a counselor at a University of Miami summer musicians' camp five years ago.

That's where Miami-Dade police say House, now 31, engaged in a sexual act with a 16-year-old female who was attending the Frost Musicians' Summer Camp at UM in June 2013. He was 26 when the alleged incidents took place.

On Monday, House, now a music teacher at Lorah Park Elementary School, was arrested and charged with engaging in a sexual act with a child, according to an arrest report.

House came to the attention of the police in March when the former band student told detectives that she had been sexually assaulted by House in 2013 when she attended the UM camp. The two, she told police, became friendly and adjourned to his dorm room on campus where they engaged in sexual acts a couple times during the two-week camp.

When she returned to the Frost Musicians' Summer Camp a second time in 2014, the two resumed a sexual relationship during the camp session, the woman told police.

House appeared in bond court Wednesday where he was ordered to stay away from the alleged victim, reported NBC6.

According to Miami-Dade County Public Schools, House has been with the school district for less than two years. Before joining Lorah Park Elementary, he worked at the Dr. Toni Bilbao Preparatory Academy, the district said.

Jackie Calzadilla, director of media relations for the district, issued the following statement: "Miami-Dade County Public Schools holds its employees to a higher standard of professional integrity. Although this case is not related to his employment with the school district, the charge against this individual is serious, reprehensible and considered a disqualifying offense that will result in termination. The school district will continue to cooperate with Coral Gables Police in their investigation."
