She had just dropped off shoes at a Model City church when the young girl was approached by a man who had a face full of tattoos and a proposition, police said.

The man, police say, asked if she drank and smoked and told her if she went home with him he'd take care of her.

He then tried to grab her, but she managed to escape with her sister, who was close by, police said.

On Monday, Miami police identified the man as Brenard Carr, and detectives were trying to find him. Carr is wanted for attempted kidnapping, police say.

"We don't know what his intentions were," said Kiara Delva, a police spokeswoman. "This could have ended very differently."

The incident happened at about 6:30 p.m. Friday near Northwest 13th Avenue and 67th Street.

Delva said the girls are between 11 and 13 years old.

After running away from the man, the girls went home and called police.

The man, who has tattoos under both eyes, between his eyes, on his nose and on his neck, is being described as heavy set, bald, with a mustache. He is approximately 5 feet, 9 inches to 5 feet, 10 inches and was last seen wearing an orange shirt with a possible hoodie attached and blue pants.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami Police Department's Robbery Unit at 305-603-6370 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
