Man rapes woman at gunpoint an hour after a failed attempt, cops say. He's on the loose.
An hour after a failed kidnapping attempt, a man managed to force another woman into her home and rape her at gunpoint, police say.
By Thursday evening, Miami police released clear surveillance video of the man detectives say was behind the attacks in Little Haiti earlier in the day.
"He is believed armed and dangerous," said Kenia Fallat, a police spokeswoman. "He forcibly had sex with the victim in her home at gunpoint."
The video shows a man loaded down with packages including a cardboard box, pushing a bicycle. He is wearing a royal blue hat and matching jacket.
Police say the first incident happened at about 7 a.m. when a woman in her 20s was confronted by a man as she exited her home. She was able to get away, police said.
About an hour later, a man with a handgun "made his way inside a victim’s home and sexually assaulted her.''
The description of the man matched in both cases.
"It's important that we have someone identify him," Fallat said. "We don't want him to strike again."
Anyone with information is asked to call the Miami Police Department's Special Victims Unit at 305-603-6300 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
