Two dead after stabbings during dispute inside home
An early Monday morning fight between two men left them both dead from stab wounds, police said.
By early afternoon, police hadn’t released any names, didn’t say who the aggressor was and hadn’t confirmed media reports that one of the men stabbed himself to death.
“We had to force entry into the house,” said Miami-Dade police Detective and spokesman Lee Cowart. “The responding officers heard some type of altercation inside.”
Cowart said officers were called to the home at 6121 SW 24th St., at 1:56 a.m. When they arrived, they heard loud noises coming from inside the home and forced their way in.
One man was dead inside. Another was taken to Kendall Regional Medical Center, where he died a short time later. Both men had stab wounds, Cowart said.
There was a third person in the home, a woman who called police, Cowart said. She was not hurt.
“We’re not seeking any other subjects,” Cowart said.
According to WPLG Channel 10, a neighbor said that the owner of the home — one of the dead men — allowed a friend to stay for a few days and the two men got into an argument. The television station reported that the guest stabbed the homeowner, then stabbed himself to death.
Cowart would not confirm that report.
