Heidy Bowen was eight months pregnant when she was shot three times. Rushed to the hospital, doctors delivered the baby in hopes of saving the newborn. Twelve days later, the tiny baby girl given the name Baby Bowen, died.
Now, police want Wayne Collier, 28, for the murder of the infant and the attempted murder of the baby’s mother.
“He’s wanted worldwide at this point,” said Miami-Dade Police Detective Lee Cowart. “We’ve been looking for him.”
On Friday police released a “Wanted for Murder” poster with a picture of a bearded Collier. It asks anyone knowing where he might be to call detectives at 305-471-2400.

Bowen, the mother, has been in the hospital since she was shot befor dark on Nov. 3 at the corner of Northwest 49th Street and 19th Avenue. Police said she was struck three times in the upper torso.
The shots missed the fetus, but doctors delivered the baby because the mother’s functions were shutting down.
Bowen 27, has been in the hospital in critical but stable condition since the shooting. She can’t speak, but she’s been able to communicate with police through hand signals and blinking.
Anyone with information on the shooting is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477. A reward of up to $3,000 is eligible for information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the shooter.
