One shot, one stabbed during dispute at Allapattah barbershop, but it’s unclear why
A dispute at an Allapattah barbershop led to a stabbing and a shooting, police say, but it was unclear several hours after the incident what exactly happened.
Miami police said they were called to the Coopertown Barbershop at 2060 NW 22nd Ave. just before 11 a.m. by someone who said they heard shots fired.
When police arrived they found one man stabbed and another with a gunshot wound. Miami police Detective Kenia Fallat said the two were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital by Miami Fire Rescue in serious condition.
She said police had detained and were speaking with a third person to try and find out his involvement and determine exactly what happened.
“It happened inside. One person has been detained,” Fallat said.
Fallat said there were others inside the barbershop when the shooting took place. It wasn’t clear if they were customers or employees. Initial reports were that two people had been shot.
The brother of the owner of the shop told WPLG Channel 10 that his brother was one of the victims. Police hadn’t released the names of anyone involved in the incident by mid-afternoon.
Yellow police tape blocked off the small strip mall where the shooting occurred on the west side of Northwest 22nd Avenue. Police were still combing the area for clues and detectives were headed to the hospital to try and speak with the wounded.
