Maragerett Ruiz, 83, was riding her electric wheelchair along the side of the road Wednesday evening when a car hit her.

Ruiz was thrown to the ground. Her wheelchair went flying. Miami Fire Rescue took her to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver, meanwhile, is nowhere to be found. Miami police are looking for the person behind the wheel of an unknown four-door make and model dark-colored car, which was seen speeding away after the accident.

Police said the car has front-end damage.
