A man is dead after an argument outside an after-hours nightclub escalated to an exchange of gunfire Saturday morning.

Miami Police spokesman Officer Rene Pimental said 34-year-old Leonardo Perera was shot outside of Nuevo Patio, at 2217 NW 19th Ave., just after 6:45 a.m.

Perera ran north along 19th Avenue and collapsed in front of 1930 NW 23rd St., Pimental said. First responders found him and took him to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he was declared dead.

“We’re still trying to find out who started this and why it all started,” Pimental said.

Anyone with information should call Miami-Dade Crimestoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477)
