Sisters standing near street struck by truck fleeing gunfight, police say

Two sisters minding their own business were struck by a truck fleeing a gunfight in Northwest Miami-Dade Sunday night, police said.

According to Miami-Dade police, the women — who haven’t been named and are said to be recovering — were near Northwest 18th Avenue and 69th Street when a gunfight broke out.

Police don’t believe anyone was struck by a bullet. But one man jumped into a Ford F-150 pickup and took off. Police said he hit another vehicle, then hit the sisters, who were innocent bystanders.

Miami Herald news partner CBS4 reported the women were sisters and said their conditions had improved after receiving care at the hospital.

Police haven’t named a motive or reported any of the shooters were captured.
