Police are looking for a Miami-Dade man on an armed robbery spree

Miami-Dade police are looking for a man who robbed a string of stores using a handgun he tucks into his waistband.

His method was the same every time: He showed up early in the morning, pointed a gun at a cashier and demanded money and sometimes cigarettes. Then he took off running with the cash.

His spree began on April 18, when Miami police said he robbed a cashier at the CVS at 3695 W. Flagler St. at gunpoint just after 3 a.m. He took off with cash and all the Newport cigarettes.

His next stop, on April 26, was a Stop and Shop at 4713 W. Flagler St. at 2:30 a.m. Again, he took off with all the cash and Newport cigarettes. According to police, he headed to the RaceWay station on Northwest 57th Street two hours later. The two employees handed over money and cigarettes and the thief ran off.

Exactly a week later, the man hit three stores. He walked into the 7-Eleven on Northwest 67th Avenue just past 2 a.m. and robbed another cashier, then the Walgreens atn 2700 W. Flagler St. just before 4 a.m. and finished the night at the CVS at 2710 SW Eighth St. at 4:15 a.m.

Witness descriptions vary, but he appears to be a tall, heavyset white Hispanic man in his 20s.
