A predawn cement truck crash had Tamiami Trail shut down in both directions at West Loop Road near the Everglades as Monday morning rush hour starts.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue says the crash happened at 5:06 a.m. The call list said 15 units were on the scene, including a hazmat unit, a heavy rescue unit and an air rescue helicopter, which MDFR says included a surgical team.

“The driver of the dump truck was extricated and airlifted to the west trauma center with traumatic injuries,” MDFR said.
