Two men impersonating police forced their way into a home a block off Colonial Drive in West Miami-Dade, barging in with handguns and demanding the homeowners, who had three children, give them all their money.
The armed robbery occurred around 3:15 a.m. Tuesday at a home in the 9800 block of Southwest 159th Street.
According to Miami-Dade police, two men with handguns broke down the front door and handcuffed the couple. One man was wearing a bulletproof police vest, a gun belt, badge and wore his long hair in a ponytail, while the other wore a long-sleeved shirt with “POLICE” written on the sleeves.
The men forced the homeowners to open their safe, took an undetermined sum of money and fled, police said.

The three children were unharmed, police said.
“These individuals that are willing to wear police insignia, badges, gun belts, vests and armed are considered very dangerous and basically defrauding the police department,” Miami-Dade Police Detective Argemis Colome told WSVN-7.
