South Miami turns 90 this month and “The City of Pleasant Living" is ready to celebrate.
At 6:30 p.m. Friday, the city is having its 90th anniversary evening reception at Murray Park Aquatic Center, 6701 SW 58 Pl. That event will feature light music, small bites and refreshments.
At 10 a.m. Saturday, there will be an 11-mile historic bike tour through the city, starting at Gibson-Bethel Community Center at 5800 SW 66th St. The tour will have stops at multiple locations, including the Underline, Fuchs Park, the Crossroads, City Hall and more. At 3 p.m. later that day, there is a family oriented event planned at Sunset Drive from Southwest 58th Avenue to Red Road. That event features games, inflatables, food, music and other surprises. Those planning to attend will have free on-street parking in downtown South Miami from noon until midnight.
This year’s Fourth of July celebration is set for 5 p.m. at Palmer Park. The event at 6100 SW 67th Ave. will have food, giveaways, children activities and live entertainment. There will also be a fireworks show.
