Bicyclist killed after driver hits him in Palmetto Bay. Roads closed, deputies say

A deadly crash between a bicyclist and a car on Wednesday morning has shut down roads in Palmetto Bay, deputies say.

Around 6:40 a.m., Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to reports of a car striking a man on a bicycle near Southwest 160th Street between 81st and 82nd avenues.

The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver remained on-site.

Authorities have not yet released details on what led to the crash nor have they identified the cyclist or the driver. Roads in the area are closed in all directions, and drivers are advised to seek alternate routes.
