Palmetto Bay police to hold safety fair on Saturday
The Palmetto Bay police department will host its first Security and Safety Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at Village Hall, 9705 E. Hibiscus St.
The event is free and open to the public and will feature a wide range of safety and security vendors, products and services. Kids will enjoy a visit by Smokey the Bear, a police helicopter on static display, and a Home Depot Kids Zone.
“This first-ever Safety and Security Fair is the next natural step for our award-winning police outreach,” said village police commander Gregory Truitt. “For more than 10 years, we’ve been taking our crime prevention message out to local schools and neighborhood groups, and into village homes and businesses. Now it’s time to inspire and educate the community with new industry ideas, concepts and products — all in one family-fun event.”
There also will be a life-jacket raffle, music and a variety of food trucks. Booths will cover everything from boating and water safety to locksmith services and car-seat safety checks. Outreach officers also will be on hand to provide fingerprinting/photo records for kids.
Palmetto Bay receives police services through a special unit of the Miami-Dade Police Department under contract with the village.
For general information and vendor registration, contact the outreach team at the village policing unit weekdays during regular business hours at 305-278-4000 or visit www.palmettobay-fl.gov.
