A North Miami High baseball coach charged with having sex with minor

A North Miami High School baseball coach has been charged with having sex with a minor.

Brandon Marquis Washington, a 31-year-old Homestead resident, was arrested Wednesday by Miami-Dade police.

Washington has been fired, Miami-Dade school district spokeswoman Daisy Gonzalez-Diego said. He was a part-time coach for a few months, she added.

Washington was charged with three counts of unlawful sex with a minor.

The 17-year-old female told police that Washington forced her to have sex; he told police it was consensual, according to the police report.

The report did not explain how he knew the girl or whether she was a student at the school.
