Smoking racked up another risk early Friday: armed robbery.
Three gunmen forced two deliverymen making rounds at a pharmacy in the 700 block of Northwest 119th Street to hand over cartons of cigarettes valued at $25,000 about 4:35 a.m. Friday, Miami-Dade police said. The deliverymen, aged 43 and 40 and both from central Florida, told police they had just finished unloading their cargo. One had stepped inside the pharmacy to retrieve a hand truck when the three gunman pulled up behind their tractor trailer in a U-Haul van. They ordered the second deliveryman, sorting through merchandise in the back of the tractor trailer, to lay down.
When the second deliveryman emerged from the store, they ordered his partner to help load the cigarettes into the U-Haul at gunpoint. The robbers then fled in the van.
The U-Haul van had an Arizona tag, AG33520. Anyone with information should contact Crimestoppers at (305)471-TIPS (8477) or (866)471-8477.
