A North Miami man snuck into a women’s bathroom at a gas station early Tuesday and tried to force himself on a woman, police say. She broke free from his grasp before he could sexually batter her.

Dadleey Desir, 26, was charged with attempted sexual battery, resisting an officer without violence, petit theft and possessing drug paraphernalia, his arrest report showed.

Sometime before 1:55 a.m., the woman walked into a bathroom at a Marathon gas station at 13490 Memorial Highway, and Desir followed her in, according to the report. He tried to take off her underwear, but she fought back and escaped him, the report read.

Officers rushed to the gas station after receiving a 911 call about the attempted assault. They said they found Desir, who began to sprint away once he saw them. Four North Miami officers ran after him and eventually handcuffed him, the report read.

While searching him, authorities said they found a crack pipe and the woman’s purse, which he had stolen during the attempted assault.

Police said Desir continued to lash out and was able to “punch out” the fiberglass in the rear passenger side cage of the police cruiser when he was handcuffed inside.

Before going to jail, he was taken to the Jackson West hospital for a medical evaluation to be treated for scratches to his head and back, which happened during his arrest, an officer wrote.

As of Tuesday evening, he remained in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, jail records show.
