2 held in North Miami hit-and-run accident

Two people have been arrested after three others who were waiting for a bus were injured in a hit-and-run accident early Friday, North Miami police said.

Devon James, 20, and Aquicresha Gibson, 25, were arrested on Saturday morning. James was charged with four counts of leaving the scene of an accident with injuries and additional counts of driving without a license and violating probation.

Gibson was charged with one count of allowing an unlicensed person to drive her car.

The accident happened at about 9:40 a.m. Friday when, according to police, James ran through a stop sign and crashed into a bus stop near Northeast 125th Street and 11th Place, injuring three victims who were waiting for the bus.

One of the victims was airlifted to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Two others were transported by ground to Aventura Hospital.

Police said all three were in serious condition but expected to recover.
