Colorful costumes from the Little Haiti Cultural Center. Horses from the Hipicolandia Show Horse Club. Music from the North Miami Middle School Band.
The 45th annual Winternational Thanksgiving Parade, South Florida’s only Thanksgiving Day parade, kicked off Thursday morning with singing, dancing and colorful floats galore.
Calvin Hughs, of Local 10 news, was the grand marshal this year. He was joined by Supa Cindy of 99 Jamz, Andrea Martinez of NBC 6, and DJ Hercules and DJ Lumoney.
On the Florida International University float, President Mark B. Rosenberg waved to paradegoers.
The Miami Heat mascot, Burnie, made an appearance.
The theme was “making our diversity count,” in celebration of the upcoming 2020 Census.
North Miami Mayor Philippe Bien-Aime said in a statement, “This year’s theme focuses on celebrating the diversity of our community as we gear up for the 2020 Census. This is an experience you don’t want to miss.”
