North Miami police surrounded a house Thursday afternoon after reports came in that there was an armed person holed up inside.
Turns out the man managed to leave the home before officers arrived, said Chief Larry Juriga.
Around 3 p.m., the police department asked the public to stay clear of the area around Northeast 116th Road and Canal Drive as the city’s SWAT team and other units descended to the home.
Juriga said the call came in as a man threatening to harm himself with a gun. The man’s wife and a child managed to escape unharmed, he said.
