A confrontation between a man and his ex-girlfriend escalated to gunshots in Miami Gardens Saturday morning and left one person dead.

The shooting happened around 2:40 a.m. Saturday morning near 19421 NW 39th Ct. where police found two victims, Michael Lopez, 23, and Doris Gutierrez, 24, in the street with several gunshot wounds.

Lopez and Gutierrez were both taken to the hospital. Lopez died from his injuries. There’s been no update on Gutierrez’s condition.

Police arrested Jorge Guerra, 24, and charged him with first degree murder. Guerra is Gutierrez’s ex-boyfriend, police said. Neighbors told NBC 6 that they heard an argument before the shooting.
