It’s been 34 years, but Miami-Dade police are now interviewing family members in connection with the 1982 disappearnce of Behdokht Pyke.
Little is known about Pyke, who was 29 when she was last seen, or her disappearance 34 years ago. She would be 64 if found today.
Detectives first began looking for clues in the cold case Tuesday in a homeowner’s Miami Gardens backyard in the 19000 block of Northwest 54th Place in the Lakes of Arcadia neighborhood. They obtained a search warrant after discovering new leads in the 34-year-old case, police spokeswoman Robin Pinkard said.
They continued digging into the backyard through Wednesday as investigators searched for clues in a home still owned by the Pyke family, according to Miami-Dade court records. It is unclear if the current residents are related to Pyke or are involved in her disappearance.
The house was bought by Bradford Pyke, in the late 1970s.
