Two separate swimming pool accidents in Miami Gardens have left a 14-month-old child dead and a 2-year-old in the hospital.

Both incidents happened just 10 minutes apart Tuesday night in the same neighborhood.

Miami Gardens police got a call at 7:47 p.m. at 1775 NW 189th Ter. after Kwami Thomas, 22, discovered his 2-year-old daughter not breathing.

He said he was watching several children when he noticed his daughter missing and soon found her face down in the pool without a pulse.

She was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital where paramedics were able to get the little girl’s pulse going again.

At 7:57 p.m., police responded to a similar pool incident at 55 NW 188th Street in Miami Gardens. As they arrived, the 14-month-old victim was already out of the water.

The parents, Amoncier Lamour, 51, and Nadia Lamour, 39, told officers that they each thought the other was watching the baby boy.

“I said, ‘where is my son,; ” the shaken father recalled. “My wife said, ‘He’s not with you?’ I said, ‘No.’ And then she went in the back to find my son in the pool.”

An officer began CPR but was unsuccessful. The child died at the hospital.

“I’ll never forget my son,” Amoncier Lamour said. “I’ve lost him.”

Following an investigation, police learned that the child was left temporarily unattended.
