A 16-year-old was recovering at Ryder Trauma Center Monday after being shot twice Sunday in Miami Gardens, according to police.
Michael Green, 16, was outside a home at 2486 NW 171st Terrace at about 5 p.m. Sunday when someone in a burgundy pickup truck began shooting, police said.
Officers responding to a report of a shooting found Michael with two gunshot wounds. The teen was airlifted to the trauma center and was listed in stable condition Monday.
The shooting is the latest in a string of violence involving young people in Miami-Dade. Last month, 6-year-old King Carter was killed by a stray bullet when a feud on Facebook spiraled into a shooting in front of his Northwest Miami-Dade apartment complex. He was going to buy candy when he was shot.

King’s death — as well as several other recent shootings that left teens dead or wounded — have sparked community outcry and led to marches and vigils. Three teens have been charged with second-degree murder in the killing of King.
