One of the northernmost neighborhoods in Miami Gardens will have a potluck gathering with Councilwoman Lisa Davis to discuss concerns and issues in the area.

The Lake Lucerne Neighborhood Watch is hosting the event from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bennett Lifter Park, 20701 NW 22nd Ave.

The meeting is free and open to the public. Davis said she wants to partner with the Crime Watch to get more residents in the area involved in what’s happening in the city and the neighborhood.

“They don’t have to bring anything but their appetite and their questions,” Davis said.

The Crime Watch members and Davis, who represents the area on the City Council, also hope to host a “Lake Lucerne Day” community event.

Wendell James, a longtime resident, said it’s a good opportunity to bring residents together and to reinforce the message that despite being the third-largest municipality in Miami-Dade County, the city still embraces its smaller neighborhoods.

“Even though we have a large population of more than 100,000 people, we are a still a small-knit community,” James said.
