Elderly man caught in crossfire as boys’ argument escalates to gunfire

An argument between two young people that escalated to gunfire caught an elderly Miami Gardens man in the crossfire Friday afternoon.

Miami Gardens don’t know why the boys were fighting, but when one pulled out a gun and shot at the other in the 3700 block of Northwest 187th street, he hit an old man. The 81-year-old man, as reported by Miami Herald news partner CBS4, was visiting a friend when he was shot twice in the back.

He was taken to Aventura Hospital, where he’s in critical but stable condition.

Miami Gardens police are searching for the two boys.
