Miami Gardens to host back-to-school food truck event on Friday
After the success of the city’s first food truck invasion, Miami Gardens will host the event again Friday as a back-to-school celebration.
The event takes place 5:30 p.m. Friday at Rolling Oaks Park, 18701 NW 17th Ave., and will feature food trucks from across Miami-Dade County, music and family activities.
Councilman Rodney Harris said the event is mostly an opportunity to draw visitors into the city and give residents another chance to enjoy good food before the summer ends.
“We want people to come into the neighborhood and enjoy themselves and have a family-friendly atmosphere,” Harris said.
City staff said last month’s event drew thousands to the park, and they hope to build on that success by hosting the invasion on the third Friday of each month. They also plan to have different entertainment at each event; last month featured a movie screening.
Admission to the park is free, and visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. For more information call 305-914-9070, or visit miamigardens-fl.gov.
