On Saturday, Inter Miami will play Egyptian team Al Ahly in the FIFA Club World Cup opener at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. The match is expected to garner an international fan base, and law enforcement agencies in South Florida have been preparing for the event and training officers in anticipation.

The match is expected to affect traffic in the area. Officials will be checking to make sure drivers who enter the property have tickets for the event, hoping to avoid a repeat of last year’s fiasco at the Copa America final, where unticketed fans were able to rush into the stadium, overwhelming officers.

That means drivers in the area — even those without plans to attend the match — should prepare for traffic.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office has announced the following road closures, which will take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, three hours before the parking gates open:

  • 199th Street from Northwest 27th Avenue to Northwest 14th Court
  • Turnpike Exit 2X

The roads will return to normal traffic patterns when the parking lots open.

Another set of road closures will begin around 9 p.m., one hour after kickoff:

  • Northwest 27th Avenue (northbound) at Northwest 199th Street
  • Northwest 199th Street from Northwest 27th Avenue to Northwest 14th Court
  • The Florida Turnpike ramp to the stadium at Northwest 199th Street (Exit 2X)
