A fight between estranged brothers this week ended fatally after one shot and killed the other, police say.

Around 11 p.m. Tuesday, Miami Gardens police officers rushed to an emergency call of a man being shot, the department said. The officers found the wounded man bleeding inside a home.

Detectives later learned the man, who was not identified, called 911 frantically before being shot, telling the dispatcher, “I need some help now.”

A witness broke down to detectives what occurred at the home. When she arrived, she saw Willyam Martin, 29, and his brother — the victim, according to police — arguing outside.

The witness said the two do not get along and had not talked to each other in months, an arrest report read. Another witness said they had been in a constant feud for about a year.

The argument escalated and the pair moved the fight inside the house. According to another witness, they both armed themselves with knives before Martin retreated into a room.

However, the report read that his brother was “too upset” and continued arguing with Martin. He told him he was going to jail through a closed door.

Martin soon after shot his brother, but how exactly that occurred is unclear. Two witnesses told detectives his brother knocked on the closed door, and then Martin fired a gun through it. Another witness said Martin opened the door and shot his brother, the report read.

After the shooting, his brother backed up and fell to the ground.

Police arrested Martin, and during questioning, he played audio footage of the argument that led up to the shooting. His brother could be heard several times saying he was going to call the police if Martin “came at him.” Shortly afterward, four gunshots rang out, then a pause, and then two more gunshots.

Martin was charged with second-degree murder and taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. As of Friday, he still remained in jail as a bond had yet to be set.
