Scooter driver critically injured after crash near two Miami Gardens schools: cops

A scooter driver was in critical condition after a crash Tuesday morning near two Miami Gardens schools, police say.

The crash happened shortly before 6 a.m. in the 700 block of Northwest 194th Street, just minutes from Miami Norland Senior High School and Norland Elementary School.

The driver of the scooter, police say, was found in the middle of the intersection with injuries to his head. He was taken to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital.

The cause of the crash is unknown. Police did not identify the scooter driver.

Footage captured by Local 10 showed first responders preparing to airlift someone who was injured on the scene.

Investigators have yet to confirm how many vehicles were involved in the crash.

Drivers should avoid Northwest Seventh Avenue as police are investigating the crash.
