Police seek ‘person of interest’ in Miami-Dade hit-and-run that killed 60-year-old

Miami-Dade police said Wednesday they need the public’s help in finding a man suspected in a hit-and-run that killed a 60-year-old pedestrian crossing an Opa-locka street.

Herald “Penchi” Herrera, 43, is the only “person of interest” in the crash that killed Donald Graber in mid-October, Miami-Dade police said in a news release. The car that that took off has since been found with front-end and windshield damage.

Around 7:53 p.m. Oct. 14, Graber was crossing Ali Baba Avenue at Northwest 27th Avenue, police said, when a Honda Accord going west on Ali Baba struck and killed him. Graber was pushing his bicycle through a marked crosswalk, police said.

“The subject fled the scene without rendering aid nor calling 911,” police said.

In surveillance footage obtained by police, the car is seen striking Graber.

Police found the Honda Accord but Herrera remained at large as of Wednesday.

Anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers that lead to the arrest of Herrera may be eligible for a reward up to $5,000, police said.
