2 Hard Rock Stadium workers burned while working on coming Formula 1 event, officials say
Two people were burned during some sort of electrical accident while working to prepare for the Formula 1 racing events at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, authorities said.
The two, who Miami-Dade police said are employees of the stadium, were both transported to the hospital — one critically injured victim by helicopter, the other by ambulance, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said.
Fire Rescue was called just after 10 a.m. about a possible explosion at the stadium, at 2000 Dan Marino Blvd.
A Hard Rock Stadium spokesperson said an electrical incident, not an explosion, had occurred when work was being done for the race events from May 6 to 8 . The workers did not suffer life-threatening injures, the spokesperson said.
There was also no damage to the stadium.
“We will continue to monitor the situation and have been in communication with the appropriate authorities,” the spokesperson said.
