A white convertible BMW was pulled from a canal in Miami Gardens Tuesday afternoon after someone saw the vehicle sticking out of the water and reported it to law enforcement, according to Miami Gardens police.

No one was found inside, police said.

The car was found in a canal just north of Ives Dairy Road off U.S. 441 before 2 p.m. People gathered around the canal as rescuers worked to get the car out.

Miami Gardens police, with the help of a tow truck, hauled the vehicle out of the canal. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews used a saw to cut open the truck to make sure no one was inside.

It was not clear how long the car had been in the water.
