A man was killed and a woman was seriously injured in a drive-by shooting early Sunday in Opa-locka, city spokesman David Chiverton said.
The shooting happened at about 3 a.m. in the 2000 block of York Street.
Chiverton said the pair had just driven up to a house when another car drove by and opened fire. Investigators do not know the motive for the shooting.
Miami Herald news partner CBS4 identified the man as 26-year-old Centrell Corker, a father of two small children.
“[You’re] not even safe in your own house. You ain’t safe nowhere,” his sister Lydia Corker told the station.
Corker died at the scene and the woman was taken to Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition. She was later upgraded to stable condition, Chiverton said.
“They estimate that quite a bit of shots were fired,” he said.
