Rescue crews extinguished a fire Tuesday afternoon that broke out in a void between the roof and third floor of a South Beach condo building, according to Miami Beach Fire.

Welding work on the roof likely sparked the blaze, Miami Beach Capt. Charlton Price said.

The fire broke out about 2:20 p.m. at the Drake, 1460 Ocean Dr.

Price said everyone was evacuated from the building. It was not clear whether residents would be able to return.

Price said investigators had to determine whether the building was safe.
