Police: Woman found dead in South Beach apartment

A woman was found dead Monday night inside an apartment at the Flamingo South Beach, Miami Beach police said.

At about 7 p.m. officers responded to the apartment complex at 1500 Bay Rd. after security personnel called saying that two young children reported their mother had been assaulted, according to police.

When police entered the apartment they found the woman's body, police said.

Police said they were investigating the death as a homicide and whether it stemmed from a domestic violence dispute.
