The U.S. Coast Guard will conduct an active-shooter exercise all day Saturday at its Miami Beach base off the MacArthur Causeway.

From 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., local law enforcement agencies and regional first responders will be present for the exercise.

Simulated gunshots and police activity might be heard in the area during the exercise. On Friday, Miami-Dade police released this statement:

“We do not wish to alarm our residents, however, we urge everyone not to discount any suspicious activity or incident as a training exercise. Remain vigilant and if you, ‘See something, say something.’ Our call center operators are aware of the various training locations and will be able to decipher between training and true emergencies.”
