Police investigating beating outside South Beach nightclub that left man in coma

A 22-year-old man remains in a coma as Miami Beach police investigate what happened before he was found beaten unconscious outside a South Beach nightclub in the early hours of the New Year.

Mohamed Youness Adlan was found around around 5 a.m. Thursday, bloodied with a fractured skull, on the ground outside popular nightclub Cameo, on Española Way. He was taken to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical condition, where he remains as of Friday afternoon.

Adlan was at Cameo with his friend, Amane Maghous, 23, when the two were separated and Maghous found Adlan outside, according the police report. A security guard told Maghous that he’d called fire rescue and Adlan was hit in the face before falling to the ground.

Adlan and Maghous are Moroccan citizens who go to school in Rhode Island.

Police have not been able to reach the security guard, they do not have witnesses or a suspect. Anyone with information can call Miami-Beach police at 305-673-7901, or Miami-Dade CrimeStoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
