Traffic diverted on Collins Avenue due to fallen lightpole

Traffic on Collins Avenue, southbound on Miami Beach from 47th Street to 50th Street, is completely shut down after a light pole blew into the water just south of 53rd Street. Officers are turning cars around in the other direction.

Miami Beach Police said brisk winds toppled the pole and loosened another along the corridor.

Traffic was already heavy in the area with seasonal visitors and people traveling to the popular Sights & Sounds of the Season concert and SoundScape event at New World Center.
