Police have identified the alleged assailant and victim of a stabbing that occurred at Art Basel Miami Beach’s main event on Friday.

Siyuan Zhao, a 24-year-old college student currently living in New York City, was arrested on a felony attempted murder charge.

The stabbing occurred at about 5:30 p.m. Friday near an art installation called “The Swamp of Sagittarius” at the Miami Beach Convention Center. A woman identified as Shin Seo Young, 33, was stabbed in the shoulder and neck with an X-Acto knife.

According to the arrest affidavit from Miami Beach police, Zhao yelled, “I had to kill her and two more” and “I had to watch her bleed” while being patted down by an officer. She later confessed to stabbing the victim during questioning, police said.

Young told police that she doesn't know Zhao and had never previously dealt with her. She said the quarrel started because Zhao was following Young around the art show, repeatedly bumping into her.

“[Zhao] without warning or provocation stabbed the victim in the right side of the neck and left shoulder, causing several lacerations,” the report said.

Young was transported to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. The injuries were not life-threatening, police said Friday.
