2 construction workers hit by truss system in Miami Beach
Two construction workers in Miami Beach were struck by a truss system and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries Tuesday morning, authorities said.
“It was situated on the second floor and teetered over,” said Miami Beach Fire Rescue Division Chief Tim Howarth.
Fire rescue received a call from the construction site at One Collins Avenue around 9 a.m. and took the two workers to Mount Sinai Medical Center.
It is unclear how the truss system fell over, Howarth said, but it may have been lifted by a crane.
One worker may have suffered a broken clavicle, said Miami Beach Police Detective Vivian Thayer.
“They were awake, alert and in good spirits,” Howarth said.
