Early morning commuters — or late night partiers — will be detoured before dawn Friday because the Alton Road flyover bridge will be closed as crews repaint the stripes on the bridge.

The closure will last from 3 a.m. to 5 a.m.

Drivers traveling east on the MacArthur Causeway who are trying to head north on Alton Road will have to continue east on Fifth Street, turn north on Lenox Avenue, turn west on Eighth Street and then turn north on Alton Road.

Drivers traveling on Alton Road from south of Fifth Street will have to follow the same detour.

The closure comes weeks after the flyover was shut for several nights for painting.
